Self Catering in Devon
Self catering in Devon! Looking for self catering in Devon? Here you are. Self catering at Cobwebs, part of Berry Mill House in Berrynarbor is probably just what you are looking for. Jill and Gerry James are the owners of Berry Mill House, a converted 17th century mill, adjacent to the Cobwebs holiday cottage. Both of these are located in the very famous (well it is in Devon!) village of Berrynarbor, which is a most picturesque village and the winner of many "Britain in Bloom" competitions. As you walk out of Cobwebs self catering cottage and walk into Berrynarbor you will be very impressed by what you see. A most English of English countryside view. As you get into the village centre there is the village pub, "Ye Olde Globe" which looks great, is great, and does very nice food for the weary traveller. A lovely day is to have a light breakfast inside the charming Cobwebs cottage and then go for a walk (or a drive) and get onto the coastal paths and exercise the body and mind. A couple of hours of this are worth a week anywhere else (in my opinion that is of course). After you are suitable fatigued, then you will inevitably find yourself near a small Devon "local" where you can engage in some very pleasant conversation and partake of one of the many local ales, followed by a light lunch of some description. The afternoon can be a repeat of the same or one of the many other diversions on offer can be looked into. You may be interested in the sea, and if you are you probably fall into one of the following categories, you like to be on it, in it or looking at it. Whichever is the category for you then you will find a way of doing it. If you like to be on the sea, then fairly close to Cobwebs self catering you will find Watermouth, where you can launch your boat. Failing that, or if you haven't brought your boat with you can go to Ilfracombe and go on one of the many excursions available on the sea (or Bristol Channel to be exact). These range form a short trip to Lynton and back to more elaborate excursions to Lundy Island. If you want to try your hand at catching fish, there is no shortage of boats ready to take you out, or you can try your hand at the water's edge. If you are keen on surfing then there are the westward facing beaches of Saunton, Woolacombe and Croyde Bay waiting for you. Apart from the water, what else is there to do? Well frankly you could spend a fortnight here and only just touch the surface of wha5t's available. The big thing is of course the coastline and walking, but if you have a family with you and especially children you may wish to look at the theme parks available such as Watermouth Castle, the Big Sheep etc. There is the shopping Mall at Atlantic Village if you need a spot of retail therapy while you are down here.
